An official says a Chilean air force plane has crashed in the Juan Fernandez islands off Chile's Pacific coast with 21 people aboard, including Camiroaga, one of Chile's most popular television presenters. The plane tried without success to land at the Juan Fernandez island, 830 kilometers (515 miles) from the country's coast. Camiroaga, 44, worked for the state TV channel's "Good Morning Everyone" program, and was traveling to the Juan Fernandez for a story on the reconstruction of the island following the Feb. 27 magnitude-8.8 earthquake and tsunami that wiped out its main town. (AP) ? Chilean officials said Saturday they has begun recovering bodies from the crash of a military airplane that went down in the Pacific Ocean with 21 aboard.

The bodies of two women and one man were recovered by searchers or fishermen, said Air Force Gen. Maximiliano Larraechea. He said they had not yet been identified. Six women were on the flight.

Vice Admiral Cristian de la Maza said searchers were finding many pieces of the CASA 212 plane that crashed Friday afternoon after two failed attempts to land in difficult weather on the Juan Fernandez islands. Officials say they believe all aboard died.

Among those aboard was popular Chilean television personality Felipe Camiroaga.
